Week four of the war. I flew into Poland, then crossed by car — Samaritan's Purse was one of only three NGOs given passage into Ukraine that early. They'd already raised a full trauma hospital in Lviv, with field clinics scattered clear to the front line.
The War
VENEZUELA
Twin earthquakes hit Venezuela on June 24, 2026 — the second measuring 7.5, the strongest the region had felt in over a century. Over 6,000 people died, and hospitals collapsed under the weight of it. I was on the ground days later, watching Samaritan's Purse raise a full field hospital in La Guaira and airlift in nearly 600,000 pounds of relief — clean water, shelter, solar light — while search-and-rescue teams kept working through what was left.
The Quake
UGANDA
Olive grew up in Northern Uganda, raised by her grandparents in the shadow of the Lord's Resistance Army — hiding in the forest to avoid being taken, once surviving a python coiled around her small body. She watched friends disappear into rebel camps while she and her grandfather memorized scripture by firelight, faith taking root before she'd even turned five. Sponsorship didn't erase what she survived. It just gave her a shot at something better — school, safety, a childhood that got to keep going.
